Minderjährige Straftäter – Mohammad Reza Haddadi, geboren 1998
Mohammad Reza Haddadi wurde für ein Verbrechen zum Tode verurteilt, das er begangen haben soll, als er noch minderjährig war. Der Hinrichtungstermin wurde bereits drei Mal verschoben. Nun liegt der Ausgang des Falls die Entscheidung ausschließlich in den Händen der Obersten Justizbehörde.
Mohammad Reza Haddadi wurde nach 18 Jahren im Gefängnis freigelassen. In einer früheren Mitteilung vom Internationalen Sekretariat hieß es, dass noch die Zahlung des Blutgeldes geklärt werden muss. Dies ist nun geschehen, so dass er endlich freigelassen wurde.

Good news! Death sentence overturned
On 28 February 2022 Mohammad Reza Haddadi was released from Adel Abad prison in Shiraz, Far province, after 18 years on death row. This took place after Branch One of Iran’s Supreme Court overturned his death sentence, which was handed down in 2004 for an offense that took place when he was 15 years old. Since 2008, Amnesty International has campaigned for Mohammad Reza Haddadi, and his case was featured in the 2018 World Day action. The following may be adapted for social media and shared publicly:
After being sentenced to death as a child and spending 18 years on death row, Mohammad Reza Haddadi is now released from prison. We reiterate our calls to the Iranian authorities to immediately abolish the death penalty against child offenders, in line with international law.
